Respecting the past, protecting the future

Victorian trim, old-growth wood siding and century-old churches can't be treated like new construction. They need gentle, careful prep, colors that suit the period, and finishes that protect the original materials instead of trapping moisture.

From Victorian homes in Santa Rosa to coastal cottages in Bodega Bay and heritage buildings like Saint Teresa of Avila Church in Bodega, Coy Brown Painting is trusted for respectful, detailed restoration.

How we approach a historic renovation

Every project starts with a free, no-obligation estimate and ends with a clean site and a final walk through.

  1. Study the building

We look closely at the materials, existing finishes and details that give the building its character.

  2. Choose colors and products

We help you choose period-appropriate colors and finishes suited to older materials.

  3. Careful prep and repair

We prepare surfaces gently and restore damaged wood rather than replacing details where possible.

  4. Detailed finishing

Trim, ornament and siding are painted with the care the building deserves.

Featured project

Saint Teresa of Avila Church, Bodega

Saint Teresa of Avila Church has watched over Bodega since the 1800s and became famous on screen in Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 film. When it was time for a new exterior, our crew prepped and repainted the historic wood church, using a boom lift to reach all the way to the cross at the top of the steeple.

The makeover was covered by The Press Democrat.
